AI Evolution: Lessons, Launches, and Celebrations
From costly missteps to game-changing innovations, we’re diving into the latest in enterprise AI—plus a birthday shoutout to ChatGPT!

Happy Wednesday!
Ready for another dive into the wild world of AI? Buckle up, because this issue has everything—drama, growth stories, and a dash of the Streisand effect.
🚨 The Cost of Not Testing Vendors: Lessons Learned from Failure
You’d think Fortune 500 companies always do their homework, right? Well, not always.
Take the infamous Target Canada debacle—poorly chosen supply chain software, rushed implementation, and zero vendor testing led to empty shelves and a $2 billion loss. Yikes.
Or look at Hertz’s $32 million lawsuit against Accenture. The travel giant hired the consultancy for a website overhaul but ended up with...nothing usable.
The Lesson?
Skipping vendor testing can cost you time, money, and reputation. Pro tip: Always vet, always test, and maybe don't rush a rollout the week before Black Friday.
🤔 ChatGPT and the Streisand Effect: What's Up with That?
Remember when ChatGPT wouldn’t acknowledge the name “David Mayer”? Neither did most of us—until it suddenly became a thing. Earlier this week, the phenomenon was resurrected on social media, with people reporting that any ChatGPT prompt involving David Mayer results in a complete shutdown of the program.
Nobody seems to know why. Some speculate that he had his information pulled, but others have devised all sorts of conspiracy theories. It turns out that avoiding certain phrases is a quick way to make them famous. Classic Streisand Effect.
Now, ChatGPT acknowledges "David Mayer," and it’s a reminder that AI isn’t just about rules—it’s about how we perceive those rules. Transparency and user feedback will always be key to AI’s success./
📢 Amazon Unveils Nova AI Models at re:Invent
Amazon Web Services (AWS) just dropped some big news at their re:Invent conference: the launch of Nova, a family of multimodal generative AI models designed to handle text, image, and video tasks.
Here’s the breakdown:
Four Text Models: Micro, Lite, Pro, and Premier, each optimized for different workloads, from speedy text generation to complex custom model training.
Nova Canvas: A powerful tool for creating and editing images with prompts and design controls.
Nova Reel: A video generation model capable of creating six-second clips (and soon, longer ones) with customizable camera motions like pans and zooms.
Available on AWS Bedrock, these models promise fast, affordable, and enterprise-ready performance. CEO Andy Jassy emphasized their ability to integrate seamlessly with proprietary systems, making them a compelling choice for businesses looking to innovate with AI.

AWS says that Canvas can generate images in a range of styles, extend existing images, or insert objects into scenes. Images courtesy of AWS.
